Based in San José (Costa Rica), Mauricio has an extensive career on international development and cooperation, having lead Fundecooperación para el Desarrollo Sostenible, a sustainable development cooperation initiative between Costa Rica, Bhutan and Benin that just celebrated its fifteenth anniversary. Fundecooperación is deemed an authentic example of successful South-South cooperation in issues of sustainable agriculture, clean technologies and gender equity projects; and a case study for countries aiming to create new alternatives for socioeconomic development in sectors that require financial and technical cooperation.
Mauricio’s presentation will focus on the available cooperation alternatives for small countries to achieve their sustainable development goals, focusing on the energy sector and what authentic South-South Cooperation should look like.
